The Talba of Ilorin, Prof. Shuaibu Oba AbdulRaheem, OFR, has dismissed the allegation from some quarters that he, among other gubernetorial aspirants in Kwara State in 2019, collected various sums of money to as payoff to support the candidature of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq prelude to the 2019 elections.
Prof. AbdulRaheem, in a statement signed on his behalf by his media team, Comrade Abdulwahb Alafara and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday, said that the allegation was a figment of the imagination of professional political jobbers and propagandists who are out to please whoever their masters were.
The statement insisted that there was never a time when he demanded or where such a criminal transaction took-place between him or anyone on his behalf and the Governor or any other person and for whatever reason(s).
The renowned academic-turned Politician explained, as a man who cherishes and practises the highest obtainable level of integrity at personal and official levels, he did not and would never trade his conscience for anything and on any issue whatsoever.
While he noted that other individuals who were aspirants then and were insinuated to have been "settled" by Governor AbdulRazaq were at the liberty to own-up or debunk the claim, the former Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission made it abundantly clear that he was in politics to serve and not for any other purpose.
The statement, therefore challenged anyone with credible evidence of such a transaction with Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, his agent or proxy to make it public or keep quiet and tender unreserved apology.
Prof.AbdulRaheem added that he not only Co-Sponssored the final Governorship election Campaign Rally/Roadshow with Hons Mashood Mustapha, Hakeem Lawal with other former Aspirants visibly present, and wholeheartedly directing their supporters across the State to participate actively.
While Prof. AbdulRaheem urged APC members and the general public to disregard the satanic and unsubstantiated lies, he advised those who are bent on spreading them to be mindful of nemesis.
