The Chairman Senate Committee on Health and the senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe , as an intervention towards preventing the outbreak of Covid-19 in Kwara state, today donated preventive items across his constituency.
The preventive items comprised of Hand Sanitizers, Gloves and Nose Masks were distributed across major markets within the constituency. The markets include Oja Tuntun, Oja Oba, Ipata Market, Mandate Market, Yoruba road market, Dr Olusola Saraki Ago Market in Ita Nma, and Oloje market. Others include Nigeria Prison Service and the NUJ Secretariat.
The items distribution also reached the four local government areas within the constituency as well as the addition of cash relief of three million Naira.
While making the donations of the items, The Senator through the director-general of his constituency office noted that the gesture was just one of the ways through which he felt was necessary to reach out to his constituents in this trying times. He noted that it is imperative for public officials and other well-to-do individuals to support the efforts of government at both federal and state level by extending hands of fellowship to the citizens who have been confined to their homes by the pandemic ravaging the world.
He further noted that the war against the disease can be won only if all and sundry abide by all directives given by government.
While appreciating the Senator's gesture on behalf of the marketers, the Iyaloja of Oja Oba Market, Alhaja Rihanat expressed gratitude and stated that the gesture was very much welcomed whilst also appreciating the legislator due to the timeliness of the intervention. She pleaded to other public officials and well-to-do persons in the society to come to the aid of the most vulnerable in society by extending helping hands.
At Mandate market, Obi Rere receiving the items on behalf of the marketers in the market commended the Senator for his foresightedness expressing that his action demonstrated how responsive he is to the plights of his constituents praying to almighty Allah to continue to uplift him.
The Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ilorin East Local government area who spoke on behalf of his colleagues lauded the Senator for identifying with his constituents as well as the party at this critical period, while assuring him of their unwavering supports in his quest to offer valuable representation to the people.
