UITH staff deny carrying corpse of deceased COVID-19 patient

Mr. Shuaib Jimoh Alakoso of Mortuary and Histopertology Department, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, who is rumoured to carry the corpse of the person who died of suspected case of COVID-19 in Kwara State has debunked the story going round on social media.
Narrating his ordeal with Radio Nigeria in in Ilorin, the UITH staff explained that he was on morning duty a day after the deceased was admitted into mortuary which was received by those on night shift.
According to him, the body of the deceased was evacuated by his family and the doctors that followed them.
He noted that doctor only advised those of them that were around to stay at home for two weeks and gave them some drugs to be taking and as well report to the authorities if there’s any symptom of coronavirus or other illness which there is none as at this time.
Mr. Alakoso stressed that he was surprised with series of calls from people and the fake news going round the social media.
Reacting to the incident, a brother to the UITH staff and his daughter, Mr.  Rasak Alakoso and Aminat Alakoso described the rumour as blackmailing and aimed at destroying their family name.
Rasak and Aminat however urged government and the management of Unilorin Teaching Hospital to always ensure safety of their workers.
