To mitigate the effects of the state-wide lockdown imposed to curb spread of COVID-19, RAFIU IBRAHIM BILAL FOUNDATION, an initiative of the former Kwara South Senator, Dr Rafiu Adebayo Ibrahim, yesterday started the distribution of relief materials worth millions of naira to hundreds of vulnerable people across Kwara South senatorial district.
The relief packages which included food items and cash donations were doled out to identified less privileged households in each of the seven local government areas of Kwara South, including Oyun, Offa, Ifelodun, Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin and Oke-Ero, according to a statement by the senator's media aide, Abdulqadir Abdulganiyy.
The statement noted that the palliatives were targeted at the vulnerable and daily income earners, whose businesses have been affected by the sit-at-home order. It added that those observing the ongoing Ramadan fasting were also prioritised in the distribution exercise.
RIB Foundation, an initiative of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, urged people of Kwara South and Kwara at large to comply with all the precautions and preventive measures put in place by the FG, State government and World Health Organisation to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
The Foundation asked the people to obey the lockdown order by staying at home to stay safe and remain alive. RIB Foundation also urged them to maintain high level of hygiene, wash their hands regularly with soap and water and always apply sanitizers.
In the same vein, RIB Foundation called on Muslims faithful to maintain high level of spirituality in this Holy month of Ramadan, and pray to God to heal the world.
