The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone C covering North Central and North East of Nigeria commend University of Ilorin for it commitment towards ameliorating the havoc recked on  humanity by coronavirus.
Since the first positive case of novel coronavirus infection in China towards the end of last year, the ensuing covid-19 pandemic is increasing on daily basis.
According to the latest figures published by John Hopkins University, 2,258,926 cases have been detected worldwide, with 154,686 deaths and 574,791 people now recovered.
In Nigeria, there have been 493 cases, with 17 deaths and 159 people recovering from the virus.

Amid the challenges combating us as a nation,  University of Ilorin has assumed didactic function in terms of research and innovation canalized towards curtailing the pandemic.

Comr. Adebayo Kayode Joshua, the NANS Zone C Public Relations Officer made it known to our media that university of Ilorin has produced over five hundred thousand hand santizers to support the Government in combating covid-19. According to him, the  university is now on the verge of building more hand wash units at various strategic areas in the school, each of the units is meant to cater for four persons at a time.
There is an existing covid-19 committee constituted by the university to carry out a research on how to contain covid-19 and suggest modalities that can be employed to restore normalcy back to our society, the outcome of team research will soon be made available to the general public.

He stated that it is good for other varsities in Nigeria to be expedient in   terms of putting an end to the pandemic, in a sane society the university's role within the community can be assessed according to the services through which it contributes to the local and regional development.

He described "the present happening as a matter of time and season in the story of mankind, prayer and unity are primal to seek divine intervention in a time like this".
